About the Actual Aircraft
The P-47D Thunderbolt was a tough, powerful large fighter that served as the mainstay of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Its sturdy fuselage housed a powerful 2,000-horsepower engine equipped with an exhaust turbine. With excellent high-speed and high-altitude performance, and a high payload, it was used in a wide range of missions, from bomber escort to ground attacks. It was produced in greater numbers than the U.S. Army's P-51 Mustang, and alongside the P-51, it produced many aces, especially in the European Theater. This masterpiece, which also served as the origin of the fighter-bomber category established after the war, is a historic landmark.
About the Kit
This fall, Platz's 1/144 WWII series was renewed and has been well-received. Following the P-51D Mustang and Shiden Kai, this third installment features the powerful U.S.
Army Air Corps main fighter, which was as effective as the P-51.
While maintaining the detailed mold expression and easy-to-build kit configuration, the decals, packaging, and instructions have been revamped. This 1/144 scale two-plane set allows you to enjoy airplane kits in a convenient size.
