About the aircraft
The F/A-18E/F Super Hornet was developed as an advanced version of the F/A-18C/D Hornet and began deployment in 1999.
Compared to the C/D models, it features a larger airframe and increased fuel tank capacity, extending its range. It is powered by two F414-GE400 turbofan engines.
In addition to a fixed armament of one 20mm M61A1 Vulcan cannon, the enlarged aircraft boasts 11 additional hardpoints, capable of carrying most of the weapons used by the United States, including air-to-air missiles such as the AIM-120A, air-to-surface missiles such as the AGM-65E, and bombs. It is a versatile multi-role aircraft capable of performing a variety of missions.
The U.S. Navy's attack squadron, VFA-27, established in 1967, has operated the F/A-18E since 2004.
Deployed at Iwakuni Air Base in Japan, it has become a familiar and anticipated aircraft in Japan.
About the Product
This is a 1/72 scale plastic model assembly kit of the U.S. Navy's carrier-based fighter, the F/A-18 Super Hornet.
It models the single-seat F/A-18E. With a total length of 253mm, sharp parts accurately recreate the appearance of the current aircraft.
Not only the fuselage shape but also the panel lines are faithfully reproduced.
The detailed mechanical landing gear and cockpit interior are also not to be missed. A wide variety of weapons, including underwing missiles, are also included, creating a powerful finish.
The markings are taken from aircraft belonging to the U.S. Navy Attack Squadron VFA-27 Royal Maces, stationed at Iwakuni Air Base in Japan. The tail markings and other 2024-era aircraft markings are reproduced using decals made by Cartograf of Italy.
Of course, the instructions and packaging are original Japanese from Platz.
