Description

      Asashimo was commissioned in November 1944 as the 16th ship of the Yugumo-class destroyers, an improved version of the Kagerō-class destroyers. During the Battle of Cape Bōsō in April 1945 as part of Operation Ten-Go, she withdrew from the fleet due to engine failure and was heavily damaged and sunk by an attack from aircraft of the US Navy task force while operating alone.
