Description

      The Agano-class light cruisers were built as flagships for torpedo squadrons under the Fourth Naval Ship Replenishment Program . They were light cruisers deployed after the Battle of Midway, making them late-war ships. Yahagi was the third ship of the Agano class and was completed at the end of 1943.

      It was equipped with three twin 15cm main gun turrets, two quadruple 61cm torpedo tube launchers, and two twin 8cm anti-aircraft gun turrets. Its first battle was the Battle of the Philippine Sea in June 1944, where it served as the flagship of the 10th Squadron, escorting the 1st Air Fleet. Then, in April 1945, it sortied to Okinawa with the battleship Yamato to carry out Operation Ten-Go .

      In developing the "Yahagi," we conducted extensive research into the optimal detail representation for the 1/350 scale, resulting in a more realistic finish than conventional 1/350 scale ship kits.

      For example, the torpedo tube shields are the same type as those on the "Yukikaze," and
should ideally be the exact same parts... but if you compare them, the difference is immediately obvious! The difference in detail and density of the parts is overwhelming.

      The chimney's jackstays are also sculpted with details perfectly suited to 1/350 scale, resulting in a more realistic appearance!

      The hull is split into left and right halves. The internal support structure ensures a stable assembly. The flight deck, complete with blast vents, is also precisely reproduced.

      The main gun turrets, anti-aircraft gun shields, and torpedo tube shields are precisely molded as single parts using slide molding technology . The muzzle of the main gun barrel is also reproduced using slide molding. The complex steam exhaust pipes around the chimney are also accurately molded as separate parts.

      Clear parts are used for the bridge windows, aircraft canopies, and searchlights. Movable parts include the rudder, main guns (rotation and elevation), 6m rangefinder, machine gun firing system, 8cm twin anti-aircraft guns (rotation and elevation), torpedo tubes, catapult, and Type 94 anti-aircraft fire control system. The barrels of the anti-aircraft guns can be moved to a vertical position.

      The kit includes two Type 0 three-seat seaplanes. The canopies are separate parts and are molded in clear plastic. The display stand has been improved from the Akagi's specifications, and now features a fixing pin that extends from the stand and is inserted into the hull.
