Description

The F-4EJ Phantom II is an interceptor fighter (used to intercept enemy aircraft in scrambles, etc.) adopted by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, based on the F-4E developed in the United States .

Due to the circumstances of Japan at the time, the bombing control system and aerial refueling system were removed.

Otherwise, the aircraft is almost identical to the US military's F-4E model. Production of the F-4EJ shifted to Japan partway through its production, and the last aircraft produced became the final Phantom of all time. (Total Phantom production: 5,195 aircraft).

The F-4EJ was deployed to bases throughout Japan, but now that the aircraft are old, some have been converted into the F-4EJ Kai and the reconnaissance version RF-4EJ. (This information is from the time the kit was released.)
