Description
The Beriev Be-6 "Madge" was a gull-winged, twin engine flying boat designed by the Soviet Beriev OKB. The aircraft first flew in the 1950s, and 19 variants were developed during its production cycle. 123 aircraft were eventually built.
Be-6 was capable of accomplishing a wide variety of missions, such as long-range maritime reconnaissance, coastal and supply line patrols, torpedo/bombing strikes, mine-laying, and transport operations. Soviet Navy Be-6s remained in service until the late 1960s.
