      M134 Minigun was designed in 1960 as six-barrel, air-cooled, and electrically-driven rotary machine gun and quickly adopted by US Army. Miniguns are widely used in US Army ground support helicopters since the Vietnam War (OH-6, OH-58, AH-1, AH-6, MH-53, UH-60, HH-60…) Miniguns also appeared in transport aircraft modified for attack roles (AC-47, AC-119, AC-130..) even as land weapons for ground troops. They were also installed on the Hummers and other vehicles during Iraq and Afghan operations.
