About the aircraft

      The A-10 Thunderbolt II is a U.S. military close air support and ground attack aircraft that entered service in 1977. It features twin engines and a straight wing design.

      Eleven hardpoints on the underside of the wings and fuselage allow it to carry a 7,260 kg load of bombs, rockets, and missiles. It also features a GAU-8/A Avenger autocannon in the nose, providing superior offensive capabilities. Improvements have continued since deployment, and the A-10C, introduced in 2005, features a glass cockpit, a modified A-model. The 354th Fighter
Squadron, based at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Arizona, is one of the units operating the A-10C, having operated the A-10 since 1979. Nicknamed the Bulldogs, the aircraft is active in missions such as close air support, air interdiction, forward air control, and combat search and rescue.

About the Product

      This Platz/Italeri series features Italeri parts with a reasonable part configuration for reliable assembly, along with Platz's Japanese instructions and original design decals.

      This set also includes specially developed photo-etched parts for added detail.

      The aircraft is a 1/48 scale replica of the U.S. ground attack aircraft, the A-10C. The finished overall length is 338mm.

      Its distinctive form, with its straight wing and twin engines, is impressively reproduced. In addition, the special photo-etched parts recreate the cockpit interior with printed instrument panels and seatbelts, as well as landing gear cords, details inside the landing gear bays, the inner parts of the A-10's distinctive wing power supply covers, and the fins and details of its extensive armament.

      The photo-etched parts create a sharp finish.

      A masking sheet is also included for easy painting of the canopy frame.

      The markings are selected from aircraft of the 354th Fighter Squadron, nicknamed the Bulldogs, based at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Arizona. The sortie markings painted on the side of the cockpit are eye-catching.
