About the Actual Aircraft
The CH-53E Super Stallion is a large helicopter developed by Sikorsky for the United States Marine Corps and Navy. The Super Stallion was originally developed as a large transport helicopter, but the MH-53E Sea Dragon, a variant equipped with a minesweeping system, was born. Externally, it features large sponsons on both sides of the fuselage, which are also used as fuel tanks, enabling extended minesweeping operations.
It is powered by three T64GE-416/419 turboprop engines. Development began in 1980, and the aircraft first flew in 1981. It also operates with the U.S. Navy's helicopter mine countermeasure squadron, HM-14 Vanguard, established in 1978. It also played an active role in disaster relief efforts following Hurricane Maria, which struck the Caribbean Sea in 2017.

The chimera illustration on the sponson is faithfully reproduced with decals. Naturally, the aircraft is a 1/72 scale MH-53E Sea Dragon replica. The powerful aircraft is divided into left and right sections, accurately recreating its shape. The interior, including the floor panels, is also modeled.
The minesweeping equipment unique to this minesweeping helicopter is also faithfully reproduced.
Furthermore, each rotor blade is a separate part, and the rotor base is reproduced mechanically. Like all kits in the Platz/Italeri series, this kit also includes a masking sheet for convenient painting of the window frames and other details.
