About the Actual Aircraft

      The F/A-18E/F Super Hornet was developed as an advanced version of the F/A-18C/D Hornet and began deployment in 1999.

      To address the C/D's major weaknesses—its limited range and weapons load—the aircraft was enlarged. The fuel tank capacity was increased, successfully extending the range, and new hardpoints were added to the enlarged wings, increasing the weapons load.

      Continuous improvements and modifications subsequently led to the Block II. With the end of Block II production in April 2020, development of Block III began.

      One of the key features of Block III is the development of conformal fuel tanks (CFTs), which are designed to conform to the aircraft's shape and minimize impact on flight performance.

      The CFTs, ​​installed on both sides of the aircraft's central spine, further expand the Super Hornet's operational range and are expected to play a major role.

About the Product

      This is a 1/144 scale plastic assembly kit of the U.S. Navy's carrier-based fighter, the F/A-18 Super Hornet. It depicts a two-seat F/A-18F equipped with a CFT (Conformal Fuel Tank).
The parts are manufactured by Dragon, resulting in a sharp finish. The CFT and the newly designed weapon pod mounted in the center of the fuselage are also newly designed. The resin parts faithfully recreate their shape.

      The finished overall length is 127mm. The aircraft's shape, complete with the CFT mounted on its back, is not to be missed even on the model.

      Fine details such as the landing gear and cockpit are also meticulously recreated.

      Two types of markings are included: one for the CFT-equipped demonstration aircraft and one for the VFA-103 Jolly Rogers, intended for deployment to the U.S. Navy.

      The decals are made by Cartograf, an Italian company renowned for their high quality. This kit recreates the latest Super Hornet design with new parts.
