Description

About the Actual Aircraft

The EA-6B Prowler is an electronic warfare aircraft operated by the U.S. Navy since 1971. Based on the A-6 Intruder carrier-based attack aircraft, the Prowler was an extended version of the A-6 Intruder's fuselage, accommodating a total of four people: the pilot and three electronic warfare personnel.

Furthermore, it was equipped with various electronic devices to perform a wide range of electronic warfare missions, including neutralizing surface-to-air missile guidance radars, electronic jamming, and collecting enemy radio intelligence.

Mass production began in 1969, and it is said that 170 batches were produced until production ended in 1991, with modifications to improve performance.

Deployed on U.S. Navy aircraft carriers, the aircraft also saw widespread use by the Marine Corps.

VAQ-134 Garudas, established in 1969, was one of the squadrons that operated the EA-6B Prowler, and also flew to Japan.

It has operated the EA-6B Prowler since 1971. In 2014, it flew its final cruise aboard the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush. Since 2015, it has been converted to the EA-18G.

About the Product

This 1/144 scale plastic model assembly kit recreates the American electronic warfare aircraft, the EA-6B Prowler.

The parts are manufactured by Dragon, renowned for their sharp finish, and this set includes parts for two aircraft.

The unique nose shape with four seats is accurately reproduced, and the cockpit interior seen through the large canopy is also realistically depicted.

Of course, the jamming pods and missiles under the wings are modeled to create a voluminous finish.

Even at approximately 12cm in length, the model has plenty of presence. The markings are selected from those used by VAQ-134 Garudas aircraft when they flew their final cruise aboard the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush in 2014. The aircraft features flowing lines.

Of course, the decals are made by Cartograf, an Italian company renowned for their high quality. This unique aircraft is a must-have even in model form.
