About the Actual Aircraft

The Shiden Kai was created toward the end of the Pacific War to intercept American aircraft attacking the Japanese mainland.

The Shiden, originally based on the Gyokukaze floatplane, was further improved. The refined airframe, combined with the 2,000-horsepower Homare engine, resulted in a masterpiece fighter with a well-balanced performance profile.

Due to its late release, only a small number were produced, but it fully demonstrated its capabilities in the service of the 343rd Air Group, comprised of the naval elite, and performed as befitted the Imperial Japanese Navy's final fighter.

About the Kit

This fall, the Platz 1/144 WWII series was renewed and has been well-received. The second installment features the Shiden Kai, which appeared toward the end of the war and was the final fighter unit of the Imperial Japanese Navy.

While maintaining the detailed mold representation and easy-to-build kit structure, the decals, packaging, and instructions have been updated. This is a 1/144 scale two-aircraft set that allows you to enjoy the fun of airplane kits in an affordable size.
